- Plain Radiology, Digital Computed Imaging (CR)
Department of Plain Radiology, Digital Computational Imaging (CR), where all kinds of x-rays are performed on adults and children. The department is equipped with a state-of-the-art digital technology X-Ray machine with image processing, after its storage, on a computer.
Digital Mammography (CR)
Department of Digital Mammography (CR), with digital imaging system of low radiation.
Department of Ultrasound, with Ultrasound Systems of the latest technology for adults and children
Ultrasound Department, with Ultrasound Systems of the latest technology for adults and children, providing high-resolution images for exams:
- Upper – lower abdominal organs (liver, gall bladder, spleen, kidney, kidney arteries, bladder, genital organs)
- Breast, thyroid, gland, scrotum
- Musculoskeletal system
- Surface and deep vessels, carotid, renal, aortic, upper – lower limb vessels
New generation ultrasonic XDclear heads are used to display results in difficult cases such as obese and large-bodied patients.
At the same time, it features state-of-the-art synchronous imaging of the ultrasound image in real time with CT scan, MRI, PET-CT and previous ultrasound examinations allowing volumetric navigation – Fusion technique – in these sequences as well as a combination of contrasting and elastography techniques.
Also, there is the possibility of further testing by Strain & Shear Wave Elastography to assess possible malignancies of breast, thyroid, liver, and prostate structures and lesions. A quantitative indication of fatty liver degeneration can be made. In addition to ultrasonographic control of body organs, FNA breast and thyroid, prostate and breast biopsy, prenatal fertility control for men and women, and Triplex vasculature, as well as specialized control of andro-reologic imaging for erectile dysfunction and penile injuries.
Paediatric Radiology Department
Specialized Paediatric Radiology Department, where general ultrasounds are performed on children and infants, along with check-ups for infants on vesicoureteral reflux with radiation – free ultrasound.
Department of Bone Density Measurement
The Bone Density Measurement Department is equipped with the latest digital imaging machine, for the check-up of the spine and the hip, as well as simultaneous hip scanning, full bone density measurement and wrist cartilage examination, with the possible assessment of fracture over the next decade.
Department of Bone Density Measurement for Children
The Department of Bone Density Measurement specializes in examining children – Irodotos has the only imaging unit for children in Crete and the second in Greece – for the measurement of osteoporosis in specific paediatric diseases, the total percentage of fat, soft tissue and bone density safely and reliably. Due to the very low dose of radiation, the examination may replace the X-ray for monitoring children with skeletal disorders.
